Why we need Layer 2 solution in Marble
Since 2023, the present of the Ordinal protocol and significant artistic endeavors on Bitcoin have led to a surge in inscriptions, attracting new creators to contribute and create content on Bitcoin. However, the high transaction fees and slow speeds on Bitcoin remain as challenges for the sustainability of these inscriptions post-hype.
To address this, we propose a Layer 2 solution on the Bitcoin blockchain that maintains Bitcoin's role in on-chain settlements while significantly reducing node costs through a more efficient consensus algorithm and lower node requirements, drastically increasing transaction speed (over 500x faster than Bitcoin) and ensuring extremely low transaction fees (1/100th of Bitcoin's).
Furthermore, the lack of smart contract support on Bitcoin limits its applicability for inscription-based complex operations, like gaming or content lending. Our Layer 2 solution introduces a Turing-complete EVM, enables the execution of smart contracts and complex computations, making them possible. These inscriptions can be bridged to Layer 2 for functionalities like liquidity trades, lending, mining, or gamification (airdrop, mystery boxes, etc), enriching the inscription ecosystem.
AI, a topic of keen interest to creators due to its creative potential and associated copyright issues. In response, we combined smart contracts with AI models in our Layer 2 solution to provide AI-based no-code tools. Our system also ensures the automatic recognition of copyright ownership when any content/data users access creator materials for secondary creation, AI/ML model training, or other usages. Through smart contracts, data users are required to compensate copyright owners with tokens. Additionally, copyright owners have the flexibility to set their own payment terms, such as revenue sharing from secondary creations. This mechanism aims to foster a vibrant environment for creators, initiating an automated system for verifying copyrights and ensuring continuous revenue from copyrighted materials. Our goal is to cultivate a thriving, self-reliant ecosystem that benefits creators by affirming their rights and facilitating a consistent income stream.
